4th Training – Thanks

On Saturday, 04 Feb., PEIGSAR held a Navigation/Clue Awareness practice that went from daylight to darkness. I want to thank Devon Herring for all his work in setting this up in conjucntion with Parks Canada and Roger Steadman for his work in helping to facilitate the day. The course was well laid out and those who were there did very well at finding clues and navigating back to them in the darkness. It was a beautiful night as well. I was very impressed with my team of Jill Champion, Cynthia Yeo, and Ralph Peters. Thanks again Devon, job well done!

Van Training

We have recently acquired a 15 seater passenger van capable of towing the Logistics/Kayak trailer. We hope to develop a list of GSAR members who will be able to drive the van with passengers or tow GSAR trailers.

GSAR members interested in operating the van to carry passengers require a Class 4 Drivers licence and must produce a Drivers Abstract . Requirements for a Class 4 licence are: Medical certificate Class 4 Drivers test and Drivers Licence change.

GSAR members interested in towing the GSAR Trailers can take a 2 day “trailer-ing” course in Slemon Park on March 10 & 11. NIF funding will cover the cost of the Course, (Registration, mileage, meals and accommodations (if required). Previous trailer-ing experience would be an asset. Space is limited (maximum 12)

If you are interested please advise Greg and Jerry :

  • If you now have a Class 4 license
  • Any trailering experience you now have
  • Are you interested in the course on March 10 & 11.
