It’s Emergency Preparedness Week!

Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996. It is a collaborative event undertaken by provincial and territorial emergency management organizations supporting activities at the local level, in concert with Public Safety Canada and partners. EP Week encourages Canadians to take three simple steps to become better prepared to face a range of emergencies:

  • Know the risks
  • Make a plan
  • Get an emergency kit

Do you and your family have an emergency plan? If not, check out this short video from Public Safety Canada for more details on how to make your own plan!

The mandate of PEI GSAR is to search for and rescue individuals who are lost or injured. To fulfil this mandate, PEI GSAR volunteers train multiple times a year to practice and maintain skills in navigation, survival, first aid, search techniques, search management, clue identification, tracking and more.
